Cardigan Island from Poppit Sands
8th May
Birdsong glorious before dawn, in dark cloud. Reed warblers from the marsh behind, and a rich profusion from the duneland slacks.
Rain later, belting down suddenly from a dark sea.
Burnet rose seven feet tall - a shock. Usually seen at stunted ankle height on bleak dunes, most odd to see it supported so high through gorse and hawthorn flowering on maturing dunes, with bluebells along the paths.
