About
A scattering of written fragments serve as useful headings for some thoughts about my approach to photography. As with the Portfolio, this section is an ongoing development, and further relevant thoughts will be added here as and when they may occur. The sources can be found here.

Other eyes
No viewer sees the same thing. Even my own eyes are other eyes. What I experience when making a photograph is a place in time. What I see is a portion of that place contained within the camera. But I do not see the final permanent image; I can only visualise it. The transparency is what the film sees. Only later, when the transparency is processed, do I see a fixed image, and then I am a new viewer the same as you.
