Art happens

One may immerse oneself completely in philosophies of approach; practice technique until it becomes instinct; work every subject to its utmost – yet, no matter how much one may develop and mature, it remains impossible to predict for certain whether an image will or will not have that indefinable ‘something’ that makes it work. Whether or not this ‘something’ is art remains an issue of some debate, but neither is it purely science, otherwise its presence in an image could be predicted and guaranteed.
